Donate to Support Tennessee's Recovery from Hurricane Helene
I am sure that you have been seeing the news of the devastation brought by Hurricane Helene in the last few days.
Rē has been invited to join in relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene and we are asking you, as our community, to join us in monetary support.
As you probably know, Rē was born in Tennessee, and we have long-standing community partners in Tennessee and the wider south. These days we go between Tennessee and New England. Whether in the South or the North or globally, our work is possible only in and through community and partnerships.
One of our trusted friends, Growing Roots, located in Grundy County, TN, is organizing a short trip to Newport/Del Rio TN to assist in hurricane relief efforts. We will be engaging in whatever the community needs - clean-up efforts; tree/limb removal for road access; distribution of food, goods, and water; and hauling debris.
Highlander Research and Education Center for Civic and Racial Justice is donating lodging for the group. This is greatly appreciated as we have heard from friends on the ground that hotels are full. Together for Hope, a regional anti-poverty coalition in Appalachia is helping to support costs for fuel, PPE, and additional supplies. Individual donors from Grundy are supporting with monetary contributions and in-kind donations of supplies.
With these aspects covered, Rē has been asked to and is taking on the task of activating our community in a CALL TO ACTION to raise funds to secure relief supplies to be distributed along with added support for the nourishment and wellbeing of those volunteering on this effort.
If you have been thinking about how to possibly join the massive road to survival and recovery from this natural disaster, we offer this immediate and trusted route to engage with.
Click here to donate - 100% of your donation dollars will go straight to the on-the-ground effort this weekend through our partner Growing Roots.
Stay tuned for more from Rē, and our partners as we continue to engage in education, outreach, and knowledge co-creation on solutions to climate change and action. We will definitely be sharing images from this experience!
Thank you to all of you who are donating, volunteering, and offering your heart, mind, and spirit to these efforts.
