The RēMind, No. 011: Regenerative Visionaries
Updates from Rē / SEEDS Regenaissance / Visionaries of Regenerative Design / Future Stweards / Ph.D. in Visionary Practice and Regenerative Leadership / Alegria Village
In this week’s newsletter, we recognize the role of regenerative visionaries in shaping the world. Visionaries are able imagine new realities and communities unlimited by present-day thoughts and practices. Visionaries actualize dreams to (re)imagine and (re)create a regenerative world.
SEEDS is a conscious cryptocurrency that is leading a global “regenaissance” (regenerative renaissance) by creating a new financial system in favor of a thriving and prosperous world. Daniel Christian Wahl penned a fantastic series of articles on Visionaries of Regenerative Design, including American innovator, inventor and architect, Buckminster Fuller. Future Stewards is building a global network of visionary change-makers to create a regenerative future. Southwestern College now offers a new Ph.D. program in Visionary Practice and Regenerative Leadership to guide and train the generation of regenerative pioneers. Costa Rica’s Alegria Village is a developing regenerative ecovillage drawing on the best principles and practices to create their living paradise.
This is how we regenerate and restore the world to thrive.

Visionaries of Regenerative Design III: R. Buckminster Fuller (1895–1983)
An intriguing series of articles by Daniel Christian Wahl recognizes visionaries of regenerative design that have had an immense impact on shaping the world. Buckminster Fuller, for one, has left an impressive legacy with his wide spectrum of curiosity and work.
Fuller has been described as an inventor, architect, engineer, mathematician, poet, cosmologist, visionary humanist, inspirational orator and the 20th-century Leonardo da Vinci.
The 2017 article points out Fuller’s discoveries, perspectives and accomplishments in the fields of fossil fuels, renewable energy, geodesic domes, ecological design, universal laws, synergetics and Fuller’s thoughts on human presence, purpose and potential on this planet.
What Fuller expressed as the need for considering the ‘omnisystem’ or as an ‘omnidisciplinary’ approach, is what… [we] need for trans -disciplinary integration and synthesis. Once human designs are salutogenic, contributing to both human and the planetary health, once they are synergistically linked into cooperative networks at every scale, and once they follow nature’s design principles, humanity will begin to fulfil the full potential of its syntropic role in the universe — the universe becoming fully conscious of itself through humanity’s conscious participation. This is the essence of sustainability — the arrow of evolution arriving in the eternal now of conscious and appropriate participation, responsible co-creation, and creatively adaptive design.

Ph.D. in Visionary Practice and Regenerative Leadership
Southwestern College’s New Earth Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico is offering an exciting new transdiscplinary doctoral program. The program (pending Higher Learning Commission approval) is designed to train regenerative visionaries, leaders and “change agents” capable of honoring wisdom traditions and creating new knowledge to envision and enact a new paradigm. The Ph.D. explores how to navigate the complexities of changing old stories of separation, domination, competition and control into needed practices of cooperation, compassion, connection and capacity to regenerate broken social systems and struggling ecosystems.
It begins with the questions “Do you have a vision?” and “Can your vision make a difference for the world?”

Alegria Village
A key part of creating a regenerative world is applying global ideas at a local level.
Alegría Village is a new ecological neighborhood in the hills of San Mateo, Alajuela, Costa Rica, dedicated to best practices in regenerative living and design.
Nestled on 70 hectares (170 acres) of fertile farmland, Alegría includes extensive permaculture food forests with thousands of fruit trees, edible community gardens, abundant springs and creeks that supply our water, and hiking and biking trails for exploring our natural surroundings.
Each neighbor has their own space - their own private land and home - and we all share a community center, pool & hot tub, yoga & meditation shala, coworking hub, permaculture farm, and sacred spaces tucked throughout the property.
Alegria’s practiced paradise sparks the question: when we adopt a fresh, regenerative (re-creative) lens, what can’t we do?
